Match report Monday 27th June

Bayern Neverlusen v Asda A’s

A really good game and reflects the improvements all the teams are making. This game went the way I am coming to expect from the Whitby League. Both side committed to the win and skill levels that are very impressive. Bayern came out of the gates at a fast pace. Forcing Asda into some good defensive play. Asda looked a little shaken in the early stages but quickly re-grouped and found their form. Half time score Bayern 3 Asda 1. Second half seen Asda take charge and they really came good with great skill and solid defence. Bayern never gave up though and held their cool. This was the stuff great games are made off. Final score Bayern Neverlusen 5 Asda A’s 4. Man of the match Dimitri Griggas

Whitby Wizzards v Gilles Willies

Gillies are struggling at the moment. It is unsure whether they will be continuing on in the league. We will keep everyone informed. Sorry to The Wizzards, this is the second time they have had a game forfeited instead of playing. I know from talking to the lads that they don’t want the forfeit they would rather play and win their games on merit. We can only apologise and we hope everybody understands we try our very best to keep the league running as smoothly as possible.

Wilko Wanderers v Whitby Warriors

What a fantastic game! Wilko’s really come to play and they play out of their skins week in and week out. Despite their league position they turn up like winners. During the first half they played some great football against the warriors. And the warriors are push over’s they always play good consistent football and this match was no different. Half time score Wilko’s 4 Warriors 4. Second half was more of the same with Wilko’s passing the ball with finesse while warriors were deadly in front of goal. The game was so competitive we have two man of the match awards. Final score Wilko Wanderers 6 Whitby Warriors 8 Man of the Match Dayne Grierson & Dave Mayers.

Iceland FC v Nothing Toulouse

I mentioned in an earlier report about the improvement from the teams in our league. This match demonstrated that. Nothing Toulouse have played consistently great football all season, while Iceland have struggled to find their form. Well this match seemed like a turning point! Iceland started the game with real vigour and determination and Nothing Toulouse were caught a little off guard. While the game appeared fairly even matched Iceland seemed to want it that little bit more. Half time score Iceland 2 Nothing 1. Second half was more of the same with Nothing playing their usual controlled skilful football while Iceland seemed to play like a team possessed. I think this is the turning point for them. They ticked all the boxes they were great both defensively and in attack. Final score Iceland FC 7 Nothing Toulouse 5. Man of the match Jack Sheridan.

Asda B’s v Sports Direct Elite

The battle of the top two! A great game between two well matched opponents. The game was a physical one which was played on many levels. Skill, fitness and pure want of the win. Half time score Asda 2 Sports 2. Second half seen Asda pick up the pace and Sports rely on their skill and tactics. Although the match was even Asda seemed more confident in front of goal and make those all important chances count. Final score Asda B’s 6 Sports Direct Elite 3. Man of the Match Simon Whelan.
